Horacio Galanti - City Manager, City of Airdrie
Presentation Topic: 7 Summits & 2 Poles
The presentation will feature the marvels of high-altitude landscapes and the lessons learnt while climbing the highest peak of every continent and reaching the North and South Poles by foot. The 7 Summits + 2 Poles Project is a mountain experience and a trip around the world, connecting mountains, people and cultures to discover the power of nature in untamed environments.
Speaker Background:
Horacio Galanti is Airdrie’s new City Manager. He is a Civil Engineer as well as a passionate high-altitude mountain climber, polar explorer and ultra-marathoner.
Originally from Argentina, he has worked in Municipal Government for 20 years and about 7 years in the private sector. He worked in Argentina, Brazil and Canada in various technical and managerial roles.
Throughout his career, he held positions as Director of Public Works & Engineering for the City of Cordoba in Argentina, Bridge Engineer in Brazil, Owner’s representative for the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation in Vancouver, Director of Planning & Engineering for the City of Fort St John and Regional Operations Manager for Focus Corporation, Director of Infrastructure and City Manager for the City of Grande Prairie.
In parallel with a very active Municipal career, Horacio loves climbing big mountains and running all over them. Among many summits in his life, Horacio has climbed the 7 Summits (the highest mountain on each continent), has climbed Mount Everest from the South and North faces, has run a full 42 Km Marathon at the North Pole and completed a 120 km ski traverse to the South Pole, after climbing the tallest peak in Antarctica. In the mountains closer to home, Horacio has finished the 125 km Canadian Death Race Solo in Grande Cache, 4 times.

Chamber Ambassadors must be:- an active Airdrie Chamber of Commerce member (in good standing) for a minimum of two years. Chamber Ambassadors will have a strong knowledge of the Chamber's mandate and goals.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank. In lieu of a speaker fee, the Chamber will be giving a donation to the Airdrie Food Bank.
