BILL 30: AN ACT TO PROTECT THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF WORKING ALBERTANS
This bill modernizes the Alberta OHS Act to promote and maintain the physical, psychological and social well-being of workers. There are six key components: defining ten work site parties; creating joint worksite health and safety committees; refusing dangerous work; implementing health and safety programs; preventing workplace violence and harassment; enhancing the appeal process and information sharing.
PRESENTER: Melanie Neufeld
She has been an Alberta OHS Officer for over 10 years. Born and raised in Alberta, she was once a fisheries biologist in Fort McMurray until a boating incident on the Athabasca River left her in crutches and passionate about workplace health and safety. Her focus is now on company health and safety management and worker education.
