Let's celebrate Small Business & our business community

A reminder that this luncheon is on MONDAY, Oct 17

The buffet lunch will be followed by the introduction of the 2016 Airdrie Business Awards Finalists and our guest speaker - Lara Murphy, Ryan Murphy Construction.

Karen Ryan and Lara Murphy founded Ryan Murphy Construction in 2008. Murphy is a Maritimer brought up in New Brunswick. While studying at Mount Allison University in Sackville she started her first company hiring other students to do odd jobs, painting and construction work. The business soon expanded to include maintenance and renovations on homes and yachts.

A Montreal native, Ryan had relocated to Banff as project manager and as the only two women on the Banff site, they got to know each other well and soon after made the decision to go into business together with Calgary as their home base.

Ryan Murphy Construction now has a staff of nine who enjoy working on a diversified number of projects that have earned the company a fine reputation — here and afar.

The business has caught the attention of national media with articles describing the story of its successes published in Profit, Alberta Venture, Chatelaine, Maclean’s and as recent as August 2, 2016 in the Calgary Herald.

Designing your leadership playbook

The Envision Group, based in Calgary, is focused on simple tools for busy leaders. This “DESIGNING YOUR LEADERSHIP PLAYBOOK” presentation is an opportunity for leaders at any level, small or large business, to define (or redefine) their “game plan”. You can't manage what you don't measure, and you can't measure what's not written or documented.

This presentation is an opportunity for participants to reflect on corporate culture and apply it to their role. Through skills and knowledge developed in this presentation attendees will learn how to link leadership and management tools to their roles as business owners in a written “game-plan”.

This workshop will appeal to anyone in a leadership role.
