SUMMARY:Alberta Employment Standards Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Alberta Employment Standards Education\, Outreach and Partnerships office exists to equip and empower employers and employees with the knowledge and resources that they need to create and maintain equitable and fair employment relationships that adhere to Employment Standards legislation.\n\n\n\nAlberta's Employment Standards Code provides minimum standards of employment that apply to the majority of employers and employees in the province\, with the exception of those working in federally regulated industries. The Code applies to approximately 85% of all employment relationships in Alberta.\n\n\n\nOverview of Employment Standards in Alberta\n\nThis information session provides a general overview of the current Employment Standards. Topics will include:\n\n	basic rules and entitlements for employment standards rules\n	how administration and enforcement occurs for employment standards\n	where to find additional information about employment standards\n\nSpeaker: Barry Mullaney\n\n\n\nBarry has been with the Government of Alberta for the past 17 years in various roles involving career development\, income support and advising foreign nationals of their rights and responsibilities while working in Alberta. In his current role Barry works as a Partnerships and Outreach Consultant for Employment Standards newly formed Education\, Outreach and Partnerships branch. Where he develops and delivers programs to promote Employment Standards in workplaces and understanding of the new Employment Standards Code enacted on January 1\, 2018.\n\n\n\nBarry lives in Airdrie\, with his wife and two young daughters. He loves to travel with his family and New York City is their next big destination.
